Often I’ve found that concentrating on my arms instead of my legs helps keep my form relaxed and smooth but other times I find myself thinking about how Arthur Lydiard told his athletes to run with their arms low like they were carrying spears but Percy Cerutty told his athletes to run with their arms high like they were clawing the air and Kenyan runners seem to have their thumbs just resting gently on their shoulders and then my brain goes kinda haywire trying to figure out what to do and I have to count footsteps until I forget about it.
