All of my personal bests come from the middle of the season, when I wasn’t expecting to run fast and ended up surprising myself. Then while theoretically “peaking” I would have very disappointing races. This could be a cautionary tale about blowing your load early, but it could also be a cautionary tale about never taking a race for granted and going for it every time but definitely don’t do that during workouts. No one cares about workout PRs.
